BMW

BMW Motorrad is the motorcycle arm of the Munich carmaker, and for most riders its name is tied to two things: the boxer engine and the GS. The flat twin, with its cylinders sticking out either side, powers the R models, from the R 1300 GS adventure bike to the R 1250 RT tourer and the retro R nineT. The rest of the range uses other layouts. The F models run parallel twins, the S 1000 R borrows its four-cylinder engine from the S 1000 RR superbike, and the G 310 R is the small single that opens the line-up. The wider range now also includes the R 18 cruisers and the C 400 scooters. Our catalogue currently lists 27 BMW models across seven classes: adventure, naked, sport touring, touring, cruiser, scooter and sport. How to choose BMW

  • Choosing between GS models? Open the R 1300 GS and the F 900 GS side by side in the compare tool to see how size, weight and power change.
  • BMW often sells the same bike with different seat options, so check the seat height on the model page for the exact version you're considering.
  • The naked range spans a wide spread, from the G 310 R to the S 1000 R, so the class alone tells you little about the bike.
