Ducati

Ducati builds its motorcycles at Borgo Panigale in Bologna, and almost everything about the brand comes back to its engines. For decades that meant the twin-cylinder L-twin, and today the range also includes V4s. Many Ducati engines use desmodromic valve operation, where the valves are closed mechanically rather than by springs, a feature the factory is known for. Our catalogue currently lists 21 Ducati models in six classes. Adventure is the largest group, with the Multistrada family and the off-road-minded DesertX. The naked bikes run from the Monster 797 to the Streetfighter V4, the Diavel models cover the power-cruiser end, and the Hypermotard models represent supermoto. The Panigale V2 and the SuperSport 950 add the sport and sport-touring side. Explore available specifications by model year, photos and related models.

How to choose Ducati

  • The Multistrada name covers several generations and engine sizes, so check the model years on each page before you compare figures.
  • Monster and Streetfighter are both naked bikes but aim at very different riders. Put them side by side in the compare tool to see the gap in power and weight.
  • The Hypermotard 698 Mono is a single-cylinder bike, unlike the twin-cylinder Hypermotard 950, so the two are less alike than the names suggest.

FAQ

What does desmodromic mean?
It's a valve system in which the valves are opened and closed mechanically by the camshaft instead of being closed by springs. Ducati is the best-known maker to use it on road bikes.
What is the difference between the Monster and the Streetfighter?
Both are naked bikes. The Monster is the everyday roadster of the range, while the Streetfighter V4 shares its engine design with Ducati's V4 superbike and is far more powerful.
Which Ducati classes are covered in the catalogue?
Adventure, naked, cruiser, supermoto, sport touring and sport. You can browse each one from this page or move to the category pages to compare Ducati with other brands.
